Being in SLG meant having lifelong, meaningful friendship ties with young ladies that shared the same values, morals, and desire to participate in philanthropy events. It meant having sisters, not just friends, who would support and encourage me in my university years and beyond. SLG has intimately connected me with ladies I would have never otherwise met, each of whom has provided me with a fulfilling university experience. At first, I wanted to be a part of SLG, but now, SLG is a part of me and it is something I would never take away. I’ve always had problems with making real friends so naturally joining was appealing to me. I also want to make a difference in the world & the best way to do that is by reaching out to the community, which is what SLG does! I am thrilled that I’ve had the opportunity to get to know the girls as well as become involved in even the little things that they do for others around them! Member since: Winter 2012 Position in ΣΛΓ: Alumna University: Waterloo Program/Major: Nanotechnology Engineering (Co-op) Year Graduated: 2017 Reasons for joining ΣΛΓ: To me I have always felt as though in times of need I was always alone and moving away from home, being far away from my best friends and starting a new definitely helped with that. Being in engineering has made it hard for me to make female friends, thus I haven’t been able to have that close emotional connection to anyone. When rushing for SLG I had no idea what to expect, but after attending the first event I realized these girls were wonderful, they all were kind, fun, caring, and shared many similarities to me. I not only joined to make new best friends, but to share a lifelong bond as family. When she told me about the exciting events and opportunities that became available to her because of the sorority, the idea of joining one intrigued me. I looked at other organizations, but I decided on joining Sigma Lambda Gamma. I felt that SLG was the best fit for me, with their ideals, principles, philanthropies and welcoming sisters Favorite activities:I absolutely love music and I’ve played piano since the age of five. I love my friends and sorority sisters; being an only child, socialization with others is very important to me. Aside from that, I enjoy reading, and skiing and just about anything artsy. I hope to (be able to) travel all over the world after graduation as it’s always been a childhood dream of mine to visit each country in the world.
