Being the introvert that I am, I really wanted to get out into the social world and see whether or not I could handle it. I was wrong to doubt myself. SLG was a community of welcoming, I didn’t feel judged, pressured or out of place. I joined SLG to become part of something new and exciting. I’ve met many people and made many friends in my years at UW, but there was very rarely the kind of bond that I was hoping for. After attending a few rush events, I found that bond among several of the sisters. It was an amazing feeling, finding that among so many people and being reassured that I had the support group that I’ve been searching for in the past several years. Other reasons for joining SLG was to get more involved in the community. Additionally I wanted to build strong bonds with a great group of girls. SLG offered all these aspects and much more which will make my four years at the University of Waterloo the most enjoyable that they can be. Favorite activities: I enjoy shopping, getting my nails done, getting dressed up, and frequent trips to Starbucks and Menchies! I also enjoyed being a competitive dancer for 16 years, a pianist for 12 years, and saxophone player for 4 years! I saw joining SLG an opportunity to get to know more girls and share girly stories with them. I keep telling myself that It’s always good to open yourself up to individuals sharing the same goals (that being success, academics, integrity and loyalty) as you. SLG is a way to practice what I’ve been telling myself for so long. Favorite Activities: Watching movies/ Listening to 80’s rock bands/ Painting & drawing/ Non-choreographed dancing in my room & shower/ Creating stop motion videos/ Phil’s nights!/ Petting cute, little puppies/ Being right all the time/ Volunteering at the Humane Society & loving animals endlessly.
